How We Choose Products

Our Selection Bar

Every product listed on KitchenChampions must clear four gates before it appears in any ranking or buying guide. These gates exist to make sure we are only directing readers toward products that are real, available, genuinely bought and made by a credible manufacturer.

Gate 1: Real Product

The product must be a genuine kitchen cooking appliance: a freestanding range, cooktop, wall oven, range hood or microwave sold new on Amazon. Bundles, accessories, replacement parts and AI-generated junk listings are excluded. The product listing must have a recognizable product name, real images and a coherent specification set.

Gate 2: Verified Buyer Demand

The product must show real demand from verified purchasers. We require a minimum number of owner reviews or a meaningful bought-last-month count. A listing with almost no buyer engagement does not clear this gate regardless of its specifications, because we have no verified basis for assessing owner satisfaction.

Gate 3: Minimum Rating

The product must carry a star rating of at least 3.8 out of 5 from a sufficient base of verified reviews. Products below this threshold have enough documented buyer dissatisfaction that we cannot in good conscience recommend them to readers planning a major kitchen purchase.

Gate 4: Real Brand

The product must be sold under a recognizable brand with a genuine market presence. We verify that the brand name corresponds to an actual manufacturer or established seller rather than a one-off or anonymous private label with no track record. Well-established brands (those with broad retail distribution and substantial buyer history) pass automatically. Newer brands clear this gate when they demonstrate sufficient verified demand and rating quality.

Ranking Within the List

Once a product clears all four gates, its position in a category ranking is determined by the combination of specification quality, price-to-spec value and verified buyer demand. A gas range with higher BTU output, more burners and a larger capacity that sells well at a reasonable price will rank above a comparable model that costs more for the same spec. We do not weight brand recognition as a ranking factor beyond the gate-4 eligibility check.
